Confirmed customer's concern during initial test drive. Noticed no issues with brake function or change in noise when brakes were applied. Technician performed inspection of vehicle and found that an exhaust heat shield had become dislodged and fallen down exhaust pipe and was cause for rattle. Customer advised that heat shield can be remounted using metal tapping screws to eliminate rattle. Customer approved remounting of heat shield. Customer also advised that water pump appears to be leaking and should be inspected further to confirm replacement/repair needs.

WATER PUMP CAME APART – PULLEY FELL OFF, BELT SHREDDED. *POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE FROM OVERHEATING* CUSTOMER ADVISED THAT WATER PUMP AND BELT REPLACEMENT MUST BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO DETERMINING IF FURTHER ENGINE DAMAGE IS PRESENT. CUSTOMER APPROVED REPAIRS AND UNDERSTANDS INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE MIGHT BE FOUND ONCE REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED.
Performed necessary repairs test drive vehicle. Found no immediate sign of internal engine damage from overheating at this time.
